Description of the organization

One Acre Fund - TUBURA is an agricultural ENGO that works in different countries in East Africa to support farmers with small areas of land. We offer each of our members a set of services such as the delivery of agricultural inputs on credit and training aimed at increasing harvests and incomes. Established in Burundi in 2012, we are a rapidly growing organization, which now has approximately 900 employees nationwide. Since 2020, we serve more than 125,000 households in 5 provinces: Muramvya, Gitega, Kayanza, Mwaro and Ngozi. For more information visit our website: http://www.oneacrefund.org

Job Description

The field auditor is part of the Case Investigation & Audit team, a sub-department of Business Operations. The person reconciles Business Operations / Logistics data after the end of the distribution, conducts fraud investigations on the ground, normal audits (monitoring of loan repayments), and surveys on customer protection and satisfaction as well as other special audits when necessary for the interest of OAF Tubura .

Responsibilities

Reimbursement audits

  • Plan the work and prepare the material for the audits well in advance. 
  • Go to the field in the hills to compare financial system data with client passbooks
  • Make note of Field Officer (FO) and office errors on the Report, writing audit invoices if necessary
  • Complete the summary of the Report of each audit at the end of the audit and notify the Manager if there are extraordinary discoveries 
  • Give accounting advice to Field Officers at the end of the audit
  • Encourage customers to always pay with Passbook

Distribution audits

  • Plan distribution audits according to the distribution program set by Operations
  • Execute distribution audits according to schedule
  • Produce high-quality audit reports

Death verification

  • When there is a case of death without proper documentation, travel to the field to conduct interviews

Special audits

  • Sometimes, they can take place special and extraordinary audits; the auditor must always be available to go into the field in an ambiguous environment

office support

  • Assist the accounting team with the entry of contracts and invoices when requested by management
  • Help with other tasks of the Audit and Finance team in Tubura
  • Help in other departments if necessary.

Responsible stewardship of Tubura's resources

  • Manage and minimize transportation costs that are necessary to perform audits

Requirements:

  • Professional experience of at least 3 years, in the field of finance, management administration or equivalent
  • Linguistic knowledge - French (required), Kirundi (required)
  • Education: At least Bac+2   
  • Knowledge of computer use: Ideally the use of basic Word and Excel functionalities and willingness to improve
  • Ability to plan and execute work independently
  • Initiative and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a team
